Spring at the Ridge…

April 23, 2009

Since I’ve last written, so much has come up to keep me busy, such as, the ACT, SAT Prep, and just the weekly challenges of academia.   Now, with only the SAT and a few remaining weeks of school, not much is coming up to distract me from putting up posts.

Recently, we have had the second National Honor Society sponsored blood drive, once again impressing the entire community with our Baron generosity.  Spring sports have started, including Lacrosse, Track & Field, Outdoor, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Intramurals, and many more.   All our teams are doing exceptionally well and, with every competition, crowds of students gather to cheer their teams, and their classmates, on.

Graduation is just around the corner for the seniors, and they are very excited.

Check back soon for further updates!

Barons, Flames, and Fireworks Made One Great Night At The Ridge

January 27, 2009

Last night, the Barons celebrated their unique cultural diversity by observing the Chinese New Year, January 26, 2009, with fireworks. Built by the chemistry classes, Blue Ridge students were mesmerized by the home-made entertainment. Flashes, colors and the occasional explosion was a great start for the new (Chinese) year. Thanks to Mr. Cormany, Mr. Bourland, and all the other teachers and students that made last night so memorable.

Way To Go Barons

January 19, 2009

The Blue Ridge Barons, now on a fourteen game winning streak, beat the Carlisle School 60-54 in an intense game last Saturday, January 17. Ranked first in the state, the varsity basketball team seems to be on an undefeatable roll. Let’s keep cheering and hope for a win in the State Championship.

The Virginia Blood Services Visits Blue Ridge School

December 15, 2008

Last Wednesday, December 10, 2008, the National Honor Society sponsored a blood drive in the Hatcher C. Williams Library where Virginia Blood Services employees worked tirelessly for six and a half hours to meet the needs of more than fifty Blue Ridge donors. The overall turnout was far more than expected and is considered one of the most successful blood drives thus far. Dominic Walker, Prefect and Disciplinary Council Member, said, “In my four years at Blue Ridge and my two years in the National Honor Society,  I have rarely seen such Blue Ridge spirit in support of such a meaningful cause.”

The National Honor Society looks forward to making this spring’s blood drive even more of a success and hopes are high.

On Saturday, November 8th, a hundred plus people from about ten local churches visited Blue Ridge to attend a dinner to support the Greene County Habitat For Humanity.

I’m away on Thanksgiving break,  but hope to have some photos up upon return.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
